With years of equestrian experience (both practical and academic), I am passionate about keeping horses in a way that supports and promotes their physical and mental health. I hope my exciting new venture at Green Havens Livery Centre can showcase the benefits of this way of life for horses and ponies!

In 2020, I completed my MSc in Equine Science at the University of Edinburgh. During this course I undertook modules in nutrition, orthopaedics, behaviour and welfare, reproduction and equitation science. My dissertation focussed on conflict behaviour displayed by horses during dressage tests – I thoroughly enjoyed this research project even though I may have felt a bit like tearing my hair out every so often…! With the unwavering and invaluable help from my supervisors (Bryony Lancaster and Carol Hall), I submitted a research paper to the Journal of Veterinary Behavior where is was accepted and published in 2022. The paper is open access and can be read here.

I am certified in Equine Sports Massage Therapy by The College of Animal Physiology. In each treatment session I use a combination of massage techniques as well as a range of stretches and exercises to mobilise joints, stimulate fascial release and improve body awareness. Benefits of massage include reducing tension, improving suppleness and flexibility, reducing risk of injury and improving general well-being.

I’ve worked in several different competition yards (including a season at a polo yard in Surrey) and so have lots of experience of all different shapes and sizes of horses and ponies.

Based in Aberdeenshire (near Mintlaw), I am happy to travel to other areas in Scotland, including Angus, Fife, Perthshire and Moray (although travel fees may be charged). I offer discounts for multiple horse bookings so why not get in touch with friends at your yard or in your riding club?

All horses and ponies can benefit from massage, whether big or small, young or old, competition horse, companion pony or happy hacker!

Feel free to get in touch with any enquiries about livery services or massage treatment sessions.

Will a treatment session help my horse?
